Junior AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and implement conversational AI agents that engage with users, utilize tools and APIs, and seamlessly transfer discussions to human agents when necessary.

• Construct retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines employing authorized information sources.

• Integrate AI agents with customer relationship management systems, ticketing platforms, databases, and messaging services.

• Develop and oversee APIs, encompassing API gateways, authentication processes, rate limiting, and version control.

• Support voice agents with speech-to-text, large language models, and text-to-speech capabilities in both English and Spanish.

• Employ evaluations, automated testing, and safety measures to enhance accuracy, reliability, and security.

• Deliver and uphold solutions through continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), monitoring, and comprehensive documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, customer experience design, and operations teams to transform prototypes into production-ready solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering; relevant internships and research experience are also considered.

• Strong proficiency in Python along with familiarity with Git, Docker, and basic SQL.

• Experience with at least one cloud service platform: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Practical experience with a large language model (LLM) API, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI.

• Background in developing an AI agent that interacts with tools or APIs, utilizing frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.

• Experience in constructing a RAG pipeline, which includes document chunking, embeddings, vector search, and retrieval optimization.

• Proficient in building and using REST APIs, including aspects like authentication, rate limiting, and versioning, with some knowledge of API gateways.

• Experience in connecting systems via webhooks, SDKs, or message queues, such as integrating an application with a CRM or database.

• Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including embeddings, train/test data splits, and evaluation metrics such as precision and recall.

• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Residing in Colombia or Mexico.

• Strong foundational knowledge along with relevant academic, internship, research, or personal project experience is highly valued.

• Nice to have: familiarity with speech AI or voice agent technologies, such as Azure AI Speech, Whisper, LiveKit, or Pipecat.

• Nice to have: knowledge of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or integration platforms like Azure Logic Apps or n8n.

• Nice to have: experience with CRM and contact center APIs, including Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or Zendesk.

• Nice to have: familiarity with LLM evaluation tools such as Langfuse or Ragas.

• Nice to have: cloud AI certifications or other relevant technical certifications.
