This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• The Joinery Estimator is tasked with creating precise and commercially viable estimates for custom residential joinery projects, which encompass kitchens, wardrobes, vanities, laundries, and complete home fit-outs.
• Analyze architectural drawings and specifications pertaining to custom joinery projects.
• Develop accurate and well-defined cost estimates that include materials, labor, finishes, hardware, and installation.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and documentation.
• Recognize cost risks, value-engineering possibilities, and opportunities for margin enhancement.
• Prepare and present quotes and pricing documents within the stipulated timeframes.
• Source and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare and oversee purchase orders for materials, hardware, and outsourced components based on approved estimates, ensuring correct quantities, pricing, and delivery timelines.
• Collaborate with designers, drafting teams, and suppliers to confirm scope, pricing, and pre-production requirements.
• Complete a structured handover to the drafting department, detailing confirmed scope, finishes, hardware selections, and any estimating assumptions necessary for accurate shop drawings.
• Accurately and promptly prepare and price variations and scope changes, ensuring margin consistency and transparent documentation for client approval.
• Maintain and update estimating databases, pricing schedules, and cost libraries.
• Assist in post-job cost reviews by comparing estimated versus actual material and labor costs, identifying recurring discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
• Demonstrated experience as a Joinery Estimator within an Australian cabinetmaking or joinery business.
• Strong comprehension of residential custom joinery, including kitchens, wardrobes, vanities, laundries, TV units, and architectural joinery.
• Proven ability to prepare detailed quantity take-offs and pricing from architectural, interior design, and shop drawings.
• Practical knowledge of:
• Familiarity with Australian suppliers, hardware brands, and joinery materials.
• Capability to identify missing information, scope gaps, buildability issues, and cost risks prior to production.
• Strong understanding of labor allowances and production-based estimating.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with drafting, production, suppliers, and management.
