This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Assist in delivering localized content by incorporating linguistic and cultural aspects for Japanese-language materials.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring linguistic quality assurance, developing terminology, and shaping the overall linguistic strategy.
• Perform linguistic reviews of translated materials to guarantee consistency in terminology, accuracy in language, cultural relevance, and a natural flow across localized products.
• Proficient in Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE).
• Ensure that translations are grammatically, technically, stylistically, and culturally appropriate.
• Create and uphold linguistic guidelines to maintain the highest quality standards.
• Offer linguistic quality feedback to translation vendors and coordinate necessary linguistic modifications.
• Review and align vendor translations with feedback from in-country stakeholders.
• Implement continuous enhancements to the localized product.
• Provide insights on internationalization or design issues and potential improvements.
• Gain familiarity with supported applications and devices to ensure the quality of terminology, tone, and style.
• Develop and sustain language resources, including a glossary and a style guide.
• Communicate terminology updates to translation vendors and stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with software developers, UX designers, and product managers.
• Execute translations as required for swift turnarounds.
• Offer cultural insights and recommendations to ensure that localized content appeals to the Japanese-speaking audience.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced degree or certificate in Translation, Interpretation, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience as a linguist or translation specialist, with an emphasis on Japanese – Native Japanese speaker is essential.
• Preference for familiarity or previous experience in payments, banking, finance, POS systems, and merchant applications.
• Strong understanding of software localization processes.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Working knowledge of translation platforms and language technology tools.
• Familiarity with Mac, Google Suite, JIRA, Adobe Acrobat, and other localization tools (e.g., TMS – Smartling, Atom text editor, screenshot annotation).
