Itinerant Certified TVI, Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Deliver orientation and mobility instructional services for students who are blind, visually impaired, or have multiple disabilities.

• Educate visually impaired students on safe travel techniques and promote their functional independence in various settings.

• Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team to create tailored educational and pre-vocational programs for students.

• Evaluate the individual needs of each student across all aspects of independent daily living to set realistic and suitable goals and objectives.

• Develop and implement programs in alignment with each student’s individual education plan (IEP).

• Assess and report on each student's progress, participate in scheduled staff meetings and IEPs, and communicate effectively with parents.

• Support each student in achieving their maximum safe travel abilities and functional independence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.

• ACVREP Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Instructor.

• Capability to obtain and maintain First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Crisis Prevention and Physical Intervention (CPPI) Certifications.

• Master’s degree is preferred.

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) instructing students with visual impairments, including those with additional disabilities.

• Valid driver's license and readiness to operate school vehicles, including chair cars.
