iSeries/AS400 Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Strategize and execute upgrades and maintenance for the OS/400 operating system, ensuring minimal system downtime.

• Oversee, troubleshoot, and provide support for all aspects of Catapult, including the development and execution of Daily, Monthly, and Weekly processes.

• Guarantee that all components of the ROCKET DEVOPS (ALDON) Source Code Development Tools are effectively implemented, utilized, and supported throughout the system change lifecycle.

• Assist, troubleshoot, and resolve all issues pertaining to MIMIX for high availability disaster recovery.

• Possess knowledge of iSeries Cloud Solutions Kendryl/Skytap and have implementation experience.

• Maintain and develop within a COBOL/CL environment on the WINS (Wheatley Insurance System).

• Reprogram and enhance segments of the WINS system using COBOL and CL development languages.

• Design, plan, and execute new projects as requested by users and upper management.

• Conduct all Database Administrator functions for DB2/400 COBOL and CL Development work, which includes:

• Creating new batch programs and processes.

• Creating and implementing export processes.

• Updating online programs and processes.

• Updating existing batch programs and processes.

• Manage, maintain, and create automated tasks on iSeries and file servers, including Secure FTP with internal and external entities.

• Design, plan, and implement data processes to satisfy business needs from the WINS system.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to stay informed about evolving business requirements, ensuring alignment with the company’s IT objectives and growth strategies.

• Work closely with other team members and support staff to fulfill user requirements.

• Meet with users and upper management to discuss requests, tickets, problems, complaints, and system enhancements when necessary.

• Execute and monitor daily and monthly processes, including all file transfers using IACCESS file transfer.

• Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers to ensure cost-effective solutions and optimal service levels.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).

• Demonstrated experience in Development and Operations on an iSeries/AS400.

• Capability to upgrade the iSeries OS/400 operating system, apply PTFs, perform IPLs, and manage tape libraries.

• Extensive knowledge and proficiency in programming languages such as COBOL/400, SQL/400, CLP/400, SDA, RLU, PDM, WRKQRY, Sequel, ACOM, Catapult, and DFU.

• Proven expertise in Insurance Management of the WINS system.

• Comprehensive understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies and tools for the iSeries.

• Strong project management abilities, with a track record of planning, executing, and delivering projects accurately and on time.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage resources effectively.

• Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

• Experience in property and casualty insurance is a significant plus.

• Willingness to travel occasionally to New York City or Morristown, NJ.
