This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Serve as a technical resource to aid in the completion and delivery of remotely-sensed forest inventory projects.
• Collect pertinent information from clients and convert it into technical project directives.
• Gather and organize relevant existing GIS reference data specific to projects.
• Ensure quality control and assurance on remote sensing deliverables at critical stages of the process.
• Integrate individual tree and/or cell-based products into stand-based inventories, whether regulated or tailored to client specifications.
• Create and maintain training materials, user guides, and onboarding resources.
• Engage in scoping discussions to assist clients in understanding deliverables and establishing expectations regarding usage and limitations.
• Aid in the quality review of remote sensing inventory deliverables prior to client handoff.
• Relay client feedback to the technical team to enhance products and workflows.
• Collaborate with internal specialists in photo interpretation, remote sensing, and project management.
• Act as a final quality checkpoint before client delivery, working with team members to identify errors, maintain accuracy standards, and promote a culture of precision before deliverables are sent out.
• Contribute to project and product documentation along with best-practice resources.
• Provide software training to client teams utilizing Forsite proprietary software planning tools.
• Offer post-delivery support to clients, including troubleshooting and guidance.
• Familiarity with provincial forest tenure and regulatory contexts; experience across multiple jurisdictions is advantageous.
• A degree or diploma in forestry, natural resource management, or a related discipline.
• Proficient GIS skills and comfort with spatial data environments.
• Strong understanding of remote sensing forest inventory methodologies and products.
• Solid grasp of forest inventory and harvest/silvicultural techniques, with experience bridging fieldwork and office tasks.
• Experience in reading and interpreting forest inventory data, reports, or prescriptions.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including the capacity to simplify technical concepts for various audiences.
• Ability to work independently in client-site or remote environments with minimal supervision.
• Eagerness to gain in-depth specialization in ITI and hex-based inventory methodologies.
