International Editor – Internship

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Serves as the ranking site division editor under the guidance of the publisher.

• Aids in the selection and supervision of three site contributors.

• Helps in distributing assignments that align with the site's target audience.

• Collaborates with contributors to create AP Style articles from initial concepts to finalized pieces.

• Reviews and approves submitted content.

• Verifies all citations and scrutinizes all references.

• Adheres to deadlines and production standards.

• Assists in generating and sharing all staff-related communications.

• Regularly contributes content as necessary.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proficient in AP Style writing format.

• Strong judgment and decision-making capabilities.

• The candidate should possess a deep understanding of the diverse international social and political landscape.

• The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to analyze and interpret international social and political events from various viewpoints.

• Experience or capability to oversee the creation of intentional social and political news features on international subjects, presenting multiple perspectives on issues.

• Skilled in time management and completing tasks within set deadlines.

• Comprehensive knowledge of communication and mass media.

• Experience and aptitude for learning new online content media platforms.

• Prior editorial or content management experience and/or managing/running a relevant site independently.

• Ability to oversee eleven reporters.

• Ideally, candidates should be college graduates or graduate students majoring in journalism, English, or a related field, with prior writing, reporting, or editing experience from school newspapers or other publications.
