This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage the daily interconnection process for both new and existing development projects, covering everything from siting to execution, including interconnection agreements, affected systems, and engineering agreements.
• Support the formulation of commercial arrangements aimed at optimizing project costs, schedules, and risks.
• Supervise consultants as needed to facilitate the interconnection process, ensuring application deliverables are met alongside engineering assessments of utility schedules and cost estimates.
• Forge and maintain professional relationships with utilities, ISOs, and industry stakeholders in essential markets.
• Serve as an advisor and communication bridge between Project Development, Business Development, and management regarding interconnection issues and policies that affect project development risks and opportunities.
• Aid in assessing utility system loading (such as deliverability and congestion) and potential interconnection costs to assist in the siting of new development projects.
• Contribute to the evaluation of interconnection and generation-tie studies and alternatives; engage in processes that optimize project interconnection options concerning cost, schedule, off-take preferences, and risk.
• Assist with Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), financing, and project sale processes by providing insights on interconnection agreements and articulating the project's specific interconnection-related attributes.
• Participate in due diligence reviews of potential project and portfolio acquisitions and related commercial transactions concerning interconnection and transmission risks, offering recommendations to the acquisition team.
• Start to build a foundational understanding of the legislation and regulations related to transmission/interconnection that affect the designated region of responsibility.
• Acquire a working knowledge of relevant regional tariffs and comprehend their impact on the interconnection process.
• Capability to establish robust working relationships with utilities, ISOs, and industry representatives.
• Proficiency in prioritizing multiple deliverables that may have conflicting schedules.
• Excellent public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate and communicate complex technical concepts and create technical reports.
• Strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities, adept at applying advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Outstanding project management and negotiation capabilities.
• Positive demeanor with the willingness to accept constructive feedback.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience, with a focus on power systems.
• Familiarity with generation interconnection tariffs, interconnection agreements, and requirements in one or more key markets, including a comprehensive understanding of the process from the initial interconnection request through utility operations.
• Experience with distribution-interconnected projects.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in transmission planning and/or power generation interconnections.
• Working knowledge of power delivery and/or transmission system planning and grid operations.
• Understanding of power flow modeling and its results.
