This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Oversee the management of transmission interconnection requests for Apex’s portfolio of projects across various ISOs (PJM, SPP, MISO, ISONE, NYISO, ERCOT, WECC) by conducting deliverability studies, submitting interconnection requests, monitoring queue progress, and collaborating with system operators and transmission owners regarding design, scheduling, and costs on a project-specific basis.
• Analyze and interpret the outcomes of Feasibility, System Impact, and Facility Studies from each ISO and assess their implications on the projected commercial schedule and interconnection costs for a project.
• Supervise technical project specifics and maintain close collaboration with electrical design consultants.
• Assist Project Management and Project Finance by effectively conveying interconnection requirements, expected costs, service limitations, construction timelines, and conducting fatal flaw analyses.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risk factors that could impact project financing or offtake agreements.
• Provide commercial and strategic insights, with input from senior management, regarding the company’s development pipeline, merger and acquisition targets, and operational assets.
• Develop or enhance existing technical and project management tools to improve the efficiency of managing the interconnection project portfolio.
• Monitor changes to interconnection tariffs nationwide and engage in technical ISO/stakeholder workshops as necessary.
• Execute additional project development duties as assigned.
• Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering
• Master’s Degree and/or PhD in electrical engineering is preferred
• 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering
• 1+ years of experience managing interconnection projects across various ISOs
• Experience overseeing consulting engineering firms and/or contractors
• Strong balance of technical expertise, project management capabilities, and negotiation skills
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders
• High standards of integrity, ethics, quality, communication, and productivity
• Exceptional planning and organizational abilities with keen attention to detail
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage deadlines and projects in dynamic environments
• Capacity to work proactively and efficiently with minimal supervision
• Strong interpersonal skills, a track record of meeting deadlines, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks, people, and projects simultaneously
