Insurance Defense Trial Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Litigates cases with low to moderate complexity and exposure, performing necessary tasks from intake through trial and/or settlement.

• Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery materials, and briefs.

• Participates in hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials.

• Actively updates leadership regarding opportunities and challenges in case management.

• Collaborates with the Claims Department on legal considerations and jurisdictional matters.

• Undertakes additional tasks or responsibilities to ensure effective case management.

• May serve as second chair in trials and manage trials in cases of moderate complexity and/or exposure.

• Provides assistance to senior attorneys in more complex cases and receives developmental assignments for matters of high complexity and/or exposure.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is preferred.

• Must be licensed to practice law in relevant states upon hire.

• Three years of experience in insurance defense litigation and/or personal/bodily injury is preferred.

• Strong preference for candidates with second chair trial experience.

• Multistate jurisdictional practice is preferred.

• Public speaking skills are required.

• Ability to manage high caseloads in adversarial or confrontational environments.

• Valid driver's license is necessary.

• Strong verbal communication and active listening skills are essential.

• Excellent written communication abilities are required.

• Effective negotiation skills are crucial.

• Demonstrated skills in conflict management are necessary.

• Ability to represent the company with external stakeholders is important.

• Exhibits sound judgment and decision-making skills.

• Proven time management and prioritization skills are essential.
