This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.
• Take charge of Alan's insurance compliance framework.
• Convert regulatory requirements linked to Alan’s core offering (IDD, including advisory responsibilities, product governance, AML/CFT, etc.) into operational processes, product design, and tools at Alan.
• Suggest the best methods to fulfill regulatory standards within Alan's products while improving the experience for members — from pricing structures and options design to user experience decisions and complaint management.
• Actively pinpoint compliance risks, evaluate exposure, and create mitigation strategies in collaboration with internal teams.
• Spearhead the organization and ongoing enhancement of Alan's complaints management system across France, Belgium, and Spain, ensuring it aligns with ACPR recommendations and equivalent local regulations.
• Function as a vital contributor from the compliance department to Alan's internal control system: document compliance-related risks and controls in the Group's centralized framework and jointly implement the internal control strategy across departments (Insurance, Operations, Sales, Care).
• Prepare for and assist with both internal and external audits: evaluate Alan's status against planned operational enhancements, outline remediation strategies, and drive and oversee their successful execution.
• Provide updates on compliance duties and risk exposure to Alan's Board and governance committees with clarity and insight; manage regulatory reporting responsibilities, including the ACPR Questionnaire Protection de la Clientèle (QPC).
• Address regulatory inspections (ACPR, FSMA, or equivalent authorities in Alan’s operational regions), coordinating internally to ensure Alan remains audit-ready.
• Support the AML framework: conduct secondary analysis on suspicious cases, manage relationships with regulatory bodies and financial intelligence units, approve high-risk client relationships (including PEPs), and uphold the AML/CFT risk assessment framework.
• Supervise the training and skill enhancement of KYC Ops referents, including Belgium-specific AML regulations.
• Collaborate with the AMLO on annual goals, documentation, monitoring tools, and regulatory reporting to the ACPR and equivalent supervisory bodies.
• Maintain Alan's compliance roadmap: prioritize initiatives, monitor progress, update risk assessments, and re-evaluate priorities as the regulatory landscape changes.
• Lead compliance initiatives with internal partners across Insurance, Product, Sales, Care, and Operations, translating regulatory mandates into tangible deliverables and timelines.
• Contribute to practical compliance perspectives on regulatory mandates impacting our products and contracts — transforming complex constraints into coherent, actionable solutions that benefit the business.
• Design and sustain essential regulatory training programs for Sales and Care roles (IDD competency requirements, including advisory duties and product governance, Loi Evin, AML/CFT).
• Establish internal compliance frameworks, guidelines, and decision-making tools that promote team autonomy and minimize dependence on external support.
• Enhance Alan's written culture by creating top-quality documentation that teams can utilize independently.
• Ensure consistent application of Alan's compliance standards across all Group markets, whether existing (France, Belgium, Spain, Canada) or newly launched, adapting Group frameworks to local regulatory requirements and implementing them locally in collaboration with local legal counsel.
• Over 4 years of experience in compliance within an insurance or fintech organization; extensive knowledge in at least two of the following areas: AML/CFT, insurance distribution (IDD), complaints management, regulatory reporting.
• Strong grasp of the French insurance regulatory landscape and capability to navigate EU and local regulations.
• Demonstrated capacity to lead cross-functional compliance initiatives: you transform regulatory obligations into clear priorities, align internal stakeholders, and achieve results without causing delays or unnecessary friction.
• Proficient in both French and English (written and spoken) is essential.
• International experience is a significant advantage.
• A position with substantial scope and responsibility at a rapidly expanding European insurer, situated at the crossroads of compliance, product development, and international growth.
• An open culture: compliance findings, audit results, and future plans are transparently shared across the organization.
• Close collaboration with a senior, diverse team.
• Opportunities to broaden your role as Alan pursues international expansion.
