This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create, define, edit, and disseminate intelligence products, which include reports, briefs, and insights blogs.
• Craft scoping documents that outline essential questions, central narratives, and necessary data requirements.
• Lead the editorial process from initial concept and outline through to drafting, revisions, approvals, and publication.
• Maintain a consistent schedule of proactive products for law enforcement, governmental, and private-sector audiences.
• Oversee the intake, editorial review, compliance checks, and end-to-end routing process.
• Generate quick-turnaround content in response to sanctions announcements, enforcement actions, and urgent developments in crypto-crime.
• Utilize AI for independent research while ensuring quality, readability, and accuracy are upheld.
• Write and edit content for clarity, structure, style, and impact in alignment with TRM's voice, style, and legal/risk guidelines.
• Validate and cross-reference data, references, and claims with analysts, data teams, and AI tools.
• Implement and enhance data de-risking standards.
• Guide the visual representation of data and narratives by collaborating with design and analytics teams on charts, figures, tables, and diagrams.
• Collaborate with threat intelligence, global investigations, data science, product, policy, marketing, and go-to-market teams.
• Monitor media, policy, enforcement actions, and internal intelligence to propose relevant storylines.
• Provide guidance to analysts and investigators on research inquiries, analytical framing, and audience targeting.
• Develop data-driven content for clients, prospects, sales cycles, government, and law enforcement audiences.
• Manage project plans, milestones, stakeholder communications, progress tracking, blockers, and exit criteria.
• Ensure that products adhere to a clear narrative structure, consistent terminology and formatting, risk appetite, and strategic priorities.
• Facilitate or contribute to retrospectives and enhance systems for organizing drafts, data, and dependencies.
• Define and lead major intelligence products from start to finish and deliver smaller products through TRM's shipping framework.
• Acquire a deep understanding of TRM's data sources, tagging, and models, and critically assess analytical conclusions or framing when necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, International Relations, Government, Economics, Security Studies, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
• 7+ years of professional experience in writing and editing content driven by data or research.
• Outstanding command of the English language, encompassing grammar, structure, and style.
• Proven ability to distill complex material without compromising accuracy.
• Demonstrated experience in editing others' work for clarity, narrative coherence, and tone.
• Strong research and fact-checking capabilities.
• Comfortable working with both quantitative data and qualitative sources, including OSINT, court documents, and enforcement actions.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced, ambiguous setting.
• Familiarity with cryptocurrency, blockchain, financial crime, sanctions, fraud, cybercrime, AML/CTF, or illicit finance, or capacity to quickly learn technical subjects.
• Comfortable collaborating with data and analytics teams, interpreting charts, scrutinizing data caveats, and discussing methodologies at a non-technical level.
• Experience with Google Docs, Notion, project trackers, Slack, or similar tools for content management, editorial workflows, and collaboration.
• Comfortable using and refining AI tools while delivering top-quality outputs.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Experience working in a remote, globally distributed team across various time zones is a plus.
• Prior experience in investigations, national security, intelligence, law enforcement, think tanks, research institutes, or policy organizations is advantageous.
• Experience tailoring content for diverse audiences is beneficial.
• Experience in measurably enhancing engagement with published work is advantageous.
