College Admissions Essay Editor – Narrative & Storytelling Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify structural weaknesses, clichés, and ineffective reflections in Common App Personal Statements and University of California PIQs.

• Assist students in cultivating authentic voices and enhancing “show, don’t tell” moments.

• Edit over 25 essays daily during peak periods.

• Produce a personalized Loom video, approximately 2 minutes long, for each essay edited.

• Articulate the rationale behind edits with both empathy and expertise.

• Oversee a daily queue of 27–32 essays during peak seasons.

• Make prompt, high-quality decisions regarding submission readiness.

• Conduct weekly Zoom workshops and one-on-one sessions throughout the 6-Week Intensives.

• Support students in brainstorming and drafting in real-time.

• Opportunity to transition into Student Success Coach roles based on student performance and alignment with the mission.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is required (preferred fields: English, Writing, Communications, Education, Humanities).

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in admissions editing.

• Familiarity with UC PIQs and Common App essays.

• Proficient in narrative structures, “show don’t tell” techniques, and voice development.

• Capability to identify clichéd, subpar, robotic, or ChatGPT-generated essays.

• Comfortable recording over 20 short videos daily.

• Ability to edit a 650-word essay within 20 minutes while maintaining quality.

• Proficient in Google Docs (Suggesting Mode), Zoom, and Loom.

• Available to work Monday to Friday, from 12:00pm to 8:00pm PST.

• Comfortable leading Zoom workshops and one-on-one student sessions.

• Submission of a resume, completed questionnaire, and a 2-minute video is required.
