Inpatient Coding Specialist – Facility

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Responsible for assigning either ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for inpatient visits or ICD-10 CM codes, along with professional and technical EM levels, and surgical CPT codes for physician visits, maintaining commercially reasonable production rates and achieving a consistent quality level of 95% or higher.

• Validates MS-DRG or APC assignments as necessary.

• Appropriately abstracts clinical data.

• Addresses hospital inpatient coding-related claims scrubber edits or professional and technical coding-related claims scrubber edits.

• Accepts short-term assignments for up to two different clients.

• Engages in client and Savista meetings and training sessions as directed by management.

• Keeps an up-to-date working knowledge of the coding conventions relevant to client assignments.

• Performs additional related duties as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possession of an active credential from AHIMA (American Health Information Association) or AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders).

• At least one year of relevant, productive coding experience related to the specific patient type for which the hiring is conducted, and this experience must have occurred within the last six months.

• Achieves a passing score of 80% on specific pre-employment tests assigned.
