This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• The Coder will evaluate clinical documentation to assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for Facility Inpatient records, ensuring the requirements for hospital data retrieval for billing and reimbursement are met.
• The Coder confirms MS-DRG calculations to accurately reflect the diagnoses and procedures recorded in the clinical documentation.
• The Coder conducts documentation reviews and assessments to ensure precise abstracting of clinical data in compliance with regulatory standards.
• The Coder may engage with client personnel and providers.
• Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment skills assessment.
• Possession of an active AHIMA (American Health Information Association) credential, such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or an active AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) credential including COC (formerly CPC-H), CCS-P, or CPC, or a related specialty credential is required.
• A minimum of two (2) years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience across all record types is essential.
• Uphold strict confidentiality for patients and providers in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Engage in client and staff meetings, training sessions, and conference calls as requested and/or necessary.
• Take part in continuing education activities to enhance expertise, skills, and maintain current credentials.
• Contribute to Savista’s Compliance Program by adhering to all relevant compliance policies and procedures.
