Infrastructure Software Engineer, Metadata Core

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage large-scale distributed databases that support all Dropbox services.

• Design and enhance the core infrastructure that oversees Dropbox databases at scale.

• Create and maintain distributed database systems that ensure low-latency and strongly consistent data access.

• Implement and refine replication, consensus, and caching strategies.

• Manage production systems and take part in the on-call rotation.

• Work alongside Infrastructure and Product teams to evaluate use cases and requirements while contributing to a mid- to long-term roadmap.

• Participate in system design reviews, postmortems, and initiatives to improve reliability.

• Write high-quality, efficient code in Go and Rust for systems that require optimal performance.

• Resolve bugs, outages, and other operational challenges to ensure a stable customer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals, including replication, consistency, partitioning, and fault tolerance.

• Proven experience in building database platforms, distributed databases, storage systems, or large-scale database infrastructures.

• Proficiency in Go, Rust, C++, or other similar systems programming languages.

• Familiarity with consensus and coordination systems such as Raft, Paxos, ZooKeeper, or etcd.

• Experience in operating production services and engaging in on-call rotations.

• Strong skills in debugging and performance analysis.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across different teams.
