Infrastructure Engineering Advisor – Mainframe z/OS Storage Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Provide support and maintenance for mainframe z/OS storage environments.

• Execute storage configuration modifications through ServiceNow change management protocols.

• Oversee storage allocation, monitoring, utilization, and backup/recovery operations.

• Aid in the development and enhancement of disaster recovery strategies and procedures.

• Manage and support environments including DFSMS, DFHSM, DFDSS, DFSMSrmm, FDR, and GDPS.

• Offer support for IBM DS8000 and TS7700 storage systems.

• Utilize and assist with JCL and ISPF utilities.

• Support DB2 SLB (HSM Fast Replication backup) operations.

• Utilize storage tools such as IBM Tivoli Advanced Allocation Manager, IBM Advanced Catalog Management, and DFSMS Advanced Allocation Manager.

• Monitor storage environments using tools like CA Vantage or IBM Omegamon XE.

• Engage in on-call rotations and off-hours change windows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

• Over 10 years of experience in mainframe z/OS storage administration.

• Extensive experience with IBM DS8000 and TS7700 storage environments.

• Practical expertise in DFSMS, DFHSM, FDR, and GDPS (Metro/Global Mirror, HyperSwap).

• Familiarity with storage allocation, monitoring, Flash Copy, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery processes.

• Strong proficiency with JCL and ISPF utilities.

• Experience with change management processes, such as ServiceNow.

• Capability to participate in on-call rotations and off-hours change windows.

• A self-starter with excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal abilities.
