This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee the execution of infrastructure programs, which include: network enhancements (LAN/WAN/SD-WAN/Wi-Fi, firewalling, segmentation).
• Modernize identity and access management (Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, Zero Trust frameworks).
• Enhance cloud and M365 platforms (Intune baselines, Defender setup, Azure services).
• Improve disaster recovery and resilience (backup strategies, failover designs, recovery testing).
• Elevate security measures (EDR/XDR/MDR implementations, vulnerability mitigation, baseline hardening).
• Assess, interpret, and challenge technical designs from vendors and partners to ensure compliance with FI’s standards.
• Validate technical setups through testing, pilot phases, and evidence-based acceptance criteria.
• Develop and manage comprehensive delivery plans, RAID logs, dependency maps, change schedules, and cutover strategies.
• Coordinate multiple infrastructure and security projects across FI’s operational landscape.
• Supervise partner engineering teams, ensuring quality, clarity of scope, and controlled project delivery.
• Conduct delivery governance, including quality gates, readiness assessments, risk evaluations, and post-implementation reviews.
• Ensure all changes adhere to proper impact assessments, testing procedures, documentation, and change control protocols.
• Manage technical delivery for new site constructions, relocations, refurbishments, and technology refresh cycles.
• Collaborate with regional center teams to coordinate activities without disrupting educational or operational functions.
• Standardize center infrastructure by consistently implementing FI’s technical blueprint across all sites.
• Guarantee that all center deployments encompass monitoring setups, documentation, and operational runbooks.
• Ensure that all projects incorporate secure-by-design principles from the outset.
• Integrate security configurations (Defender, MDE, firewalls, M365 security baselines, DLP) into delivery cycles.
• Work closely with the Information Security Manager to ensure that: remediation of vulnerabilities is effectively planned and executed, new services align with governance and accreditation standards (Cyber Essentials/ISO27001), and SOC/MDR/alerting integrations are included in new infrastructure.
• Translate technical objectives into clear communications for all key stakeholders.
• Confirm that all new services are accompanied by: complete documentation (logical/physical diagrams, configurations, build standards), monitoring and logging baselines, operational runbooks and escalation protocols, and training or knowledge-transfer sessions for IT operations. Ensure handovers meet strict acceptance criteria before transitioning into business-as-usual operations.
• Extensive experience in delivering complex, multi-site IT infrastructure projects (network, cloud, identity, endpoint, security).
• Proficient in reading, understanding, challenging, and validating technical designs across: network and firewall technologies, Azure/M365/Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Sentinel, and Zero Trust architecture.
• Proven experience in coordinating specialist engineers and third-party delivery partners.
• Strong project delivery capabilities (waterfall/agile hybrid), with a focus on structured documentation and governance.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to dissect complex technical challenges.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities across both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Capacity to produce high-quality delivery artifacts (plans, architectures, test evidence, runbooks, change packs).
• Willingness to travel to FI centers as needed.
