Industrial Engineering – Facilities Consultant

📋 Description

• Oversee the collection and verification of operational datasets from manufacturing lines, storage systems, material handling, workforce trends, quality challenges, and facility limitations.

• Perform comprehensive industrial engineering analyses, including time studies, throughput modeling, labor and equipment efficiency, workflow bottlenecks, and quality/performance diagnostics in factory or warehouse settings.

• Establish and organize model inputs such as layouts, constraints, resource needs, shift schedules, throughput assumptions, and quality metrics; conduct scenario analyses and interpret operational impacts.

• Create decision-ready visuals and detailed narrative summaries that effectively convey findings and operational recommendations.

• Maintain comprehensive process maps, facility layouts, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational assumptions that facilitate modeling, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Lead collaborations with manufacturing, quality, engineering, warehousing, and logistics teams to collect requirements, clarify operational realities, and shape analytical or modernization strategies.

• Mentor junior analysts, review their outputs, and ensure analytical and operational rigor across facility and industrial engineering workstreams.


⛳️ Requirements

• 4–8 years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing operations, warehousing, distribution, quality engineering, or facilities/process improvement (Experience in DoD depots, arsenals, logistics centers, or maintenance facilities may compensate for required years of experience).

• Proven success in leading industrial engineering or operations workstreams (time studies, throughput/flow modeling, labor standards, facility layout assessments, bottleneck analysis, quality investigations).

• Experience in preparing structured inputs for facility, warehouse, or manufacturing models; familiarity with simulation or facility/digital twin tools is preferred.

• Proficient in Excel; knowledge of SQL or analytics tools (Python/R) is advantageous.

• Experience in supporting or advising stakeholders and presenting operational recommendations, as well as mentoring or reviewing the work of junior team members.

• Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
