In-House Trial Attorney – Contract Role

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Manages legal responsibilities for designated cases.

• Proactively follows up on cases referred to Staff Counsel by the Claims Department.

• Develops and maintains a documented strategy for managing each assigned case, including a summary of intangible factors such as the judge, plaintiff attorney, and aggravating circumstances.

• Organizes and maintains comprehensive document files that include pleadings, briefs, and memorandums.

• Prepares and delivers timely status updates to claims handlers regarding all significant activities, ensuring reports are submitted no less frequently than every 60 days.

• Guarantees that all case files are accurately documented and systematically organized.

• Provides quick and efficient responses to all phone calls and written correspondence.

• Utilizes and/or ensures the use of case management software to maintain notes, diaries, calendars, billing, etc., for cases assigned to Staff Counsel, adhering to established Company operating guidelines and legal and ethical standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a trial attorney.

• Experience in insurance defense work is preferred.

• Must be a member of the State Bar, maintaining all necessary licensing and continuing education obligations.

• Willingness to travel as required.
