This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.
• Assist a diverse array of projects for both private and governmental clients across the U.S. and globally.
• Conduct and evaluate ecological risk assessments in line with regulatory standards and specific project plans.
• Create Risk Assessment Work Plans and actively contribute to Sampling and Analysis Plans as well as Quality Assurance Project Plans.
• Collaborate with internal project teams, including the delegation of tasks to junior personnel.
• Generate technical deliverables, author reports, and perform or review calculations related to risk assessments.
• Participate in proposal development and business growth, which includes creating scopes of work and cost estimates for ecological risk assessments.
• Mentor and nurture the development of junior staff members.
• Stay updated on federal and state regulations and guidance documents pertaining to risk assessment practices.
• Ensure work quality, quantity, and efficiency meet or exceed company standards.
• Undertake occasional fieldwork as required.
• BA/BS degree in Ecotoxicology, Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science/Studies, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology, or a related discipline, along with 6+ years of experience in ecological risk assessments within an environmental consulting environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Capability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review and background check.
• Practical knowledge of USEPA guidelines for executing ecological risk assessments.
• Strong technical writing and communication abilities.
• Experience with food web and bioaccumulation assessments.
• Background in data analysis and applied statistics.
• Competence in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Familiarity with evaluating PFAS, PCBs, and lead.
• Experience with CERCLA processes including Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Record of Decision development.
• Experience in site investigations, field sampling, and wildlife assessments.
• Experience working with Navy or Department of Defense projects.
• Experience interacting with the Hawaii Department of Health and EPA Region 9.
• Experience managing projects in Hawaii, Guam, and other Pacific Islands.
• Willingness to undertake occasional field work as necessary.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD degree in a relevant field.
