This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• In the role of a CGS Hmong Chinese Document Reviewer, you will be integral to supporting various facets of the company's litigation portfolio, which includes eDiscovery activities, workflow management, and litigation assistance.
• Perform research and draft responses for a range of post-conviction motions.
• Conduct research and draft memorandums addressing legal questions for direct appeals awaiting court decisions and pretrial motions for criminal cases pending in Federal Court.
• Review, prepare, and process a broad array of technical legal documents that are typically extensive and complex in format.
• Evaluate incoming materials to determine the necessity for the assembly and preparation of various legal documents, such as motions, orders, answers, pleadings, subpoenas, etc.
• Acquire essential information from case files, law enforcement agencies, civil client agencies, or other sources, and submit completed legal documents to the relevant client assistant attorney for assessment and approval.
• Draft legal actions including indictments, complaints, search warrants, judgments, applications, notices, affidavits, summonses, subpoenas, rules to show cause, proofs of claim, motions for summary judgment, dismissals, and satisfactions of judgment.
• Ensure that legal documents comply with established rules governing style and format.
• Assist client attorneys in preparing trial notebooks, compiling jury instructions, and organizing witness and exhibit lists. Prepare discovery materials for plaintiffs and/or defendants in accordance with applicable rules and regulations, with the approval of designated attorneys. Utilize both original and online legal resources to verify citations and statutory references in legal documents, ensuring completeness and consistency with source material.
• Compose original letters that do not necessitate legal interpretations but require a strong understanding of legal and administrative procedures and terminology.
• Generate a variety of written documents and materials using a diverse array of office software applications.
• A minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible experience in litigation support projects, demonstrating proven capabilities and communication skills necessary to effectively interact with clients and attorneys.
• Requires a solid working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills are essential, along with a comprehensive understanding of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
• Must possess hands-on familiarity with various computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging tools.
• The role also necessitates hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and a sound understanding of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
