HL7 Interoperability Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain enterprise interoperability architectures utilizing HL7 v2, v3, CDA, and FHIR standards.

• Spearhead the implementation of secure health data exchange solutions across VistA systems, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications, and external partners.

• Ensure adherence to the VA Technical Reference Model (TRM), One-VA Enterprise Architecture, and federal security protocols.

• Develop and support HL7 interfaces, including integration with VistA modules such as TIU and various clinical systems.

• Provide technical leadership and direction to development teams regarding interoperability best practices and standard adoption.

• Create and maintain architecture documentation, which includes design patterns, interface specifications, and CONOPs.

• Collaborate within Agile teams to identify risks, outline technical milestones, and facilitate delivery throughout the program lifecycle.

• Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as necessary to support team goals and ensure project success.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 8–10+ years of IT experience, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to healthcare interoperability in large enterprise settings.

• In-depth expertise in HL7 FHIR (R4/R5), CDA, C-CDA, and HL7 v2.x messaging standards.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing interoperability solutions within healthcare systems.

• Strong comprehension of system integration patterns, data exchange protocols, and interface design.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and clinical stakeholders.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and capability to function within complex federal environments.
