This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Deliver designated course material in a virtual setting
• Offer instruction, assistance, and guidance tailored to each student's unique IEP requirements
• Oversee the educational process and engage proactively with students and their families
• Ensure that special education and associated services are delivered in accordance with IEP team decisions
• Liaise with parents and related service personnel regarding suitable therapies
• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary state special education documentation
• Lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP reviews
• Apply accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplementary curriculum, and accessible texts
• Adjust Stride K12 lessons and assessments as outlined in IEPs
• Foster student inclusion and success within the general education environment
• Gather data and work samples to track progress toward IEP objectives
• Document communications with parents and interventions for students
• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities
• Maintain the grade book and uphold academic integrity
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion, and notify administrators of performance issues
• Prepare students for critical standardized assessments
• Cultivate positive relationships with families and ensure timely communication with students and parents
• Assist learning coaches and parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting
• Travel up to 20% for in-person professional development, student assessments, and/or school obligations
• Bachelor’s degree
• Active state Special Education teaching license
• Minimum of six months of student teaching experience
• Capability to pass required background checks
• If certification is from a different state, secure West Virginia reciprocity within 60 days of employment
• Ability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week
• Capacity to maintain a professional home office free from distractions during work hours
• Willingness to adhere to the school’s defined schedule, usually 9–5 or 8–4
• Ability to travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student assessments, and/or school obligations
• Experience with the designated age group is preferred
• Experience in online teaching or within a traditional classroom setting is preferred
• Familiarity with online learning platforms is preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms is preferred
