This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +3 more states.
• Deliver designated high school mathematics curriculum content in a virtual setting.
• Create engaging and interactive synchronous learning experiences.
• Provide live instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the learning process.
• Tailor instruction to meet students’ individual needs and track their progress using Stride K12’s learning management system.
• Collaborate closely with students and parents/learning coaches to further learning towards set objectives.
• Utilize K12 curriculum and online school expertise relevant to the assigned grade and subject area.
• Enhance course content and create instructional tools, strategies, and lessons that align with school pacing schedules.
• Regularly contact students via email or phone and address their inquiries.
• Engage in academic-focused meetings alongside virtual staff meetings.
• Monitor and report on student academic progress and pacing; generate formal reports as necessary.
• Notify school administrators regarding concerns related to student progress and attendance.
• Organize orientation, training, social, and educational events for students and their families.
• Produce monthly newsletters or update websites as required.
• Lead orientations for students and parents, and evaluate students in accordance with policy.
• Occasionally travel throughout the year to attend school events, including state testing.
• Valid state Department of Education High School (9-12) Math Teaching Certification required.
• Applicants must reside in any of the 50 states or Washington, D.C.
• A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of industry experience leading to certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is needed.
• Appropriate subject teaching certification is necessary.
• A shared commitment to the virtual academy’s mission is essential.
• Strong knowledge of content and subject matter is required.
• Ability to support and guide both adults and students is critical.
• Proficiency in motivational techniques is highly valued.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills are a must.
• Willingness and capability to obtain additional state licensure as required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web applications is required.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time is expected.
• Must successfully pass a required background check.
• Reliable internet service with a modem/router is necessary.
• A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload is required when not competing with other users in the household.
• Satellite, DSL, data plans, wireless, and dial-up services are not suitable for call quality.
• Typically available for 20–25 hours per week, with the possibility of fewer or more hours based on business needs.
• Availability during daytime business hours from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. ET, Monday–Friday, may be required.
• Preferred: experience as an online learner is advantageous.
• Preferred: familiarity with a student information system and/or other databases is desirable.
• Preferred: experience teaching in a virtual environment is an asset.
