This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.
• Deliver live, synchronous online classes during the school day, creating engaging presentations that challenge students, ignite curiosity, and encourage deep thinking.
• Facilitate virtual classrooms of approximately 20 to 40 students by cultivating strong relationships, employing Socratic questioning, and promoting active participation and discussions.
• Instruct students on how to think critically rather than what to think, emphasizing reasoning, inquiry, and perspective-taking over memorization or basic content delivery.
• Demonstrate effective learning habits by promoting reflection and development, while showcasing curiosity, professionalism, and mastery of the subject matter.
• Utilize observations and student data to adapt instruction in real time, ensuring that every student is supported and appropriately challenged.
• Set clear expectations for behavior and participation while maintaining active supervision of students during live classes.
• Arrange for a substitute in accordance with WL’s substitute policy when necessary.
• Design lesson plans aligned with syllabus objectives, essential questions, and upcoming assignments.
• Prepare instructional materials and activities that support course objectives and offer a clear progression for students.
• Ensure Canvas courses are accurately configured each semester, including assignments, pacing, and curriculum materials, while sharing responsibility for maintaining that setup.
• Provide suggestions and feedback to enhance ongoing improvements in curriculum and instructional resources.
• Assess student work in Canvas and offer timely (within 4 days), detailed, and constructive feedback that fosters student growth and learning.
• Track student progress, attendance, and engagement, identifying those who require additional academic or organizational support.
• Implement targeted interventions, hold weekly office hours, communicate proactively with students and parents, and participate in IEP and 504 meetings as required.
• Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues via email, phone, and virtual meetings.
• Respond to messages and inquiries within one business day and consistently follow through on commitments.
• Maintain accurate records regarding attendance, discipline, and student needs, adhering to Williamsburg Learning policies, procedures, and expectations.
• Stay updated on all required training through SafeSchools.
• Actively participate in obligatory professional development activities, including training, coaching, observations, and regular team meetings.
• Engage in continual reflection and growth as a mentor by seeking feedback, refining practices, and deepening understanding of Williamsburg Learning’s instructional methods.
• Positively contribute to the Williamsburg Learning community by collaborating with colleagues, supporting shared objectives, and exemplifying the organization’s core values of Culture of Belonging, Right Action, and Growth.
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) with proven expertise and passion for the subject area.
• Current teaching license in secondary Mathematics.
• Proficient in effectively instructing high school math, including Pre-Calculus.
• Quick to learn technology and skilled in using email, managing files, and electronically recording and reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Self-motivated, organized, adaptable, and solutions-focused.
• Alignment with the educational philosophy and mission of Williamsburg Learning.
• Capability to pass a criminal background check.
• Previous experience working with middle- and high school-aged students (preferred).
• Experience teaching in the relevant subject area (preferred).
• High comfort level with technology, including AI, video conferencing, and presentation tools (preferred).
• Prior experience with Canvas or other Learning Management Systems (preferred).
• Familiarity with Zoom and Google Workspace (preferred).
