High School Math Substitute Teacher – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement a culinary arts curriculum that meets state standards and aligns with CTE pathways.

• Educate students on food preparation techniques, cooking methods, nutrition, and kitchen management.

• Ensure a safe, clean, and well-organized kitchen/classroom environment.

• Teach students about food safety and sanitation in accordance with ServSafe or equivalent standards.

• Tailor instruction to accommodate various student needs and skill levels.

• Evaluate student progress through both practical (hands-on) and written assessments.

• Oversee inventory management, equipment, and food ordering while adhering to budget constraints.

• Integrate career exploration and industry connections, including guest speakers, certifications, and internships.

• Supervise students during lab sessions and ensure appropriate equipment usage.

• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives (e.g., connections to math, business, and science).

• Maintain regular communication with students, families, and school staff.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Education, Hospitality, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Valid teaching certification (or willingness to obtain CTE certification).

• Professional experience in culinary or food service is preferred.

• Familiarity with food safety regulations and kitchen operations.

• Strong skills in classroom management and organization.

• Capability to pass the required background check.

• ServSafe Certification (Instructor/Manager) is preferred.

• Experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs is preferred.

• Background in the restaurant, catering, or hospitality industry is preferred.

• Experience working with high school students is preferred.

• Hands-on teaching ability and a passion for culinary arts are preferred.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills are preferred.

• Ability to handle a fast-paced, dynamic classroom environment is preferred.

• Creativity in lesson planning and engaging students is preferred.

• Commitment to student success and career readiness is preferred.
