This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Provide guidance to students and their families concerning academic matters.
• Stay informed about all high school graduation prerequisites, including unique requirements like community service, and relay this information to the High School Coordinator and the principal.
• Assist students and parents in navigating the secondary course selection process in accordance with specific state credit requirements, as well as student needs and interests.
• Counsel students facing issues related to course drops and schedule changes, seeking support as necessary, while ensuring compliance with the school's course selection and drop policies.
• Review student transcripts and ensure accurate entry of credits into the online transcript system.
• Adhere to procedures that guarantee the accuracy and timeliness of Connections Academy transcripts.
• Collaborate with administrative assistants to acquire student records from previous schools (when applicable) and forward student records as appropriate.
• Implement programs aimed at assisting students and families with interpersonal adjustment challenges.
• Work alongside school teams to identify and help families access both school and community resources.
• Engage in the creation of crisis prevention and management plans for the school and serve as a vital member of the Student Support Team (SST).
• Coordinate with a team of middle and high school educators to identify students who are considered "at-risk" or "in crisis."
• Serve as the primary point of contact for these students and their families, maintaining regular communication.
• Oversee and manage the Personal Learning Plan (PLP) for each student.
• Implement initiatives to ensure comprehensive and accurate records for Connections Academy students.
• Guide families through the school withdrawal process, aiding in data collection related to withdrawals.
• Report and refer critical incidents that threaten student well-being as mandated by law, administrative regulations, or ethical standards.
• Remain updated on all state regulations concerning incident reporting and documentation.
• Facilitate special programs such as Advanced Placement support, SAT and ACT preparation, and college entrance readiness.
• Understand the requirements for and assist the principal in coordinating the administration of all high school testing, including exit exams, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams.
• Aid students in researching and comprehending their post-secondary career and educational options.
• Assist with the preparation of college and job applications for students.
• Educate students and parents regarding college admissions criteria and financial aid.
• Support the orchestration of high school graduation ceremonies.
• Facilitate professional development activities for teachers and school staff members.
• Take on teaching and grading responsibilities as needed, including instructing middle school elective courses.
• Ensure 504 knowledge and compliance as necessary. Other duties as assigned.
• Texas teacher certification in a secondary content area or grade level.
• Must possess or be willing to promptly obtain TxVSN Certification.
• Proficient technology skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite.
