Helicopter Pilot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Safely and legally operates Air Methods aircraft.

• Conducts pre-flight checks before each flight to ensure the aircraft is in an airworthy condition, confirmed by signing off on the Daily Flight Log.

• Performs a thorough walk-around inspection of the aircraft prior to entering the cockpit for flight and after completing each flight.

• Holds final authority regarding the operations of the aircraft and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.

• Must possess comprehensive knowledge of all aircraft and medical systems for backup aircraft utilized in the operational area.

• Ensures that the medical flight team is well-acquainted and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.

• Responsible for completing all necessary documentation.

• Capable of conducting detailed flight planning on short notice to exacting standards.

• Regularly participates in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach efforts.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.

• Two to five years of relevant experience and/or training.

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Must maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds.

• Age must be under seventy (70) years old.

• Pilots are required to have flown in the category within the last 24 months.

• A total of 2000 flight hours is required, including a minimum of 1500 flight hours in the specific category.

• 1000 hours as Pilot In Command (PIC) in the category.

• 500 hours of rotor wing turbine experience.

• 200 hours of cross-country flight time, with at least 50 hours flown at night.

• 100 hours of unaided night time as PIC.

• 50 hours of actual or hood instrument time in flight within the category.

• Required certificates, licenses, and registrations must be held.
