This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with clinical and utilization management teams to gain insights into workflows, data requirements, and areas where analysis can enhance decision-making and outcomes.
• Utilize AI tools to expedite data extraction and reveal patterns within extensive clinical datasets.
• Examine AI results to identify trends or anomalies that may not be readily apparent through manual examination.
• Employ AI to assist with documentation tasks, including drafting summaries, organizing findings, and creating repeatable templates for clinical and operational purposes.
• Extract, cleanse, and analyze healthcare data encompassing claims, service dates, provider specialties, utilization patterns, and clinical indicators.
• Detect trends and derive actionable insights from clinical and utilization data to aid in care management, cost containment, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist the clinical team in comprehending benefit structures, plan designs, and their interaction with utilization and outcomes data.
• Recognize opportunities for AI or automation to optimize clinical review processes, identify outliers, or lessen the manual workload for clinical staff.
• Develop simple data tools, dashboards, or summary reports to enhance the accessibility and actionability of clinical and utilization data.
• Clearly document findings, methodologies, and recommendations to ensure insights are replicable and applicable beyond the internship.
• Convey data findings and recommendations to clinical and operational leadership in a straightforward and accessible manner.
• Currently enrolled as a Senior or Graduate student in a degree program related to Health Informatics, Nursing, Clinical Health Sciences, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a similar field.
• Sufficient clinical or medical knowledge to comprehend healthcare terminology, diagnosis and procedure codes, provider specialties, and utilization management concepts.
• Experience in working with or analyzing healthcare data, including claims data, service dates, provider details, or clinical documentation.
• Strong analytical abilities that enable the extraction of meaningful insights from complex datasets.
• Practical experience with AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar) and a proven ability to apply them effectively.
• A curiosity about how AI can enhance healthcare operations – you don’t need to be an AI engineer, but you should be someone who experiments, poses the question “what if we used AI for this?” and follows through.
• Familiarity with data tools like Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
• Capability to clearly communicate data findings to both clinical and non-clinical audiences.
• Ability to work autonomously, navigate ambiguity, and prioritize tasks across multiple projects.
• Experience with Python, R, or other data analysis languages is an advantage.
• Previous exposure to utilization management, care management, or managed care environments is a plus.
