Health Information Specialist – I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Receive and process requests for patient health information in line with Company and Facility policies and procedures.

• Uphold confidentiality and security for all privileged information.

• Maintain a solid understanding of Company and facility software.

• Comply with the Company's and Customer facilities Code of Conduct and policies.

• Notify the manager regarding work, site challenges, and/or variable workloads.

• Provide assistance with additional tasks or responsibilities as necessary.

• Consistently apply medical privacy regulations to prevent unauthorized disclosures.

• Responsible for overseeing patient health records.

• Ensure the protection of patient records and adherence to HIPAA standards.

• Prepare new patient charts by collecting documents and information from paper sources and/or electronic health records.

• Ensure medical records are organized in standard order and are both accurate and complete.

• Create digital copies of documents to be stored in the electronic medical record.

• Respond to requests for patient records from within the facility and from external sources, retrieving and transmitting them as needed.

• Handle inbound and outbound calls.

• May assist with walk-in patients.

• May support administrative tasks such as managing faxes, sorting mail, and performing data entry.

• Must meet productivity standards as specified at the particular site.

• May coordinate pick-ups.

• Additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Ability to travel between locations as required.

• Willingness to work overtime during peak periods when necessary.

• Basic proficiency in computer skills.

• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other standard office equipment regularly.

• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
