Head of Trading Risk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

📋 Description

• We are seeking an experienced leader to oversee our newly established Trading Risk team.

• This pivotal leadership position has been created as part of a strategic reorganization aimed at unifying all business-risk-related functions within our trading divisions into a dedicated team.

• The Head of Trading Risk will be responsible for the comprehensive business risk operations and logic design across various product lines, reporting directly to senior leadership.

• Lead and develop the Trading Risk team while establishing the strategic vision for business risk management throughout the organization.

• Foster a high-performing, risk-oriented culture that emphasizes accountability and ownership.

• Define team objectives and key results (OKRs), set performance standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

• Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to integrate risk considerations into product development.

• Oversee business risk operations and logic design across multiple product lines, including spot trading, derivatives, and lending/earn products.

• Create and maintain risk control frameworks, alert systems, and escalation protocols for each product line.

• Supervise real-time risk monitoring systems to ensure prompt incident response.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in risk management within the financial services, fintech, or crypto/digital assets sectors.

• 3+ years in a leadership role managing risk teams of five or more members.

• In-depth knowledge of derivatives risk (including futures, options, perpetual swaps, CFDs) — covering margin models, liquidation engines, and settlement processes.

• Experience in multi-product risk management involving at least three of the following: spot, derivatives, lending, earn/yield products.

• Strong quantitative skills — capable of designing and validating risk models, parameters, and control logic.

• Excellent communication abilities — able to convey complex risk concepts to product and business stakeholders.

• Demonstrated success in building and scaling risk teams from inception or through significant transformation.

• AI-first mindset — actively utilizes AI/ML tools and techniques to enhance risk detection, automate workflows, and improve decision-making efficiency.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or C++ — capable of developing risk models, prototyping monitoring tools, and working with quantitative codebases.

• Fluent in English; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is highly preferred.
