This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.

📋 Description

• Oversee Smallpdf’s global SEO initiatives (technical, on-page, content, off-page) to enhance organic visibility, drive relevant traffic, and generate new ARR from search, while boosting discoverability in LLMs and AI-driven search.

• Lead and nurture a team of 3-6 full-time and freelance SEO experts. Establish goals, development plans, and operational rhythms (ideation, planning, execution, measurement, and reviews). Promote a culture of rapid, high-quality execution and continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to elevate brand visibility in AI Search / LLMs.

• Manage Smallpdf’s SEO roadmap, aligning priorities with: A) business outcomes (e.g. new ARR), B) SEO metrics (e.g. rankings, traffic, backlinks), and C) LLMO metrics (e.g. brand visibility, citations, mentions).

• Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to implement our SEO roadmap effectively.

• Ensure alignment among stakeholders across the Leadership team, Marketing, and Product and Engineering to guarantee that SEO and LLMO priorities are well understood and adequately resourced. Provide updates on results with clear data, action plans, and requests.

• Design, implement, and refine experiments to enhance SEO performance at a rigorous pace. Establish a standard operating procedure for SEO experiments including hypothesis formation, prioritization, measurement, rollout, and reporting.

• Contribute to shaping Smallpdf’s content strategy to leverage SEO and LLMO opportunities. Offer insights on optimizing content operations (target keywords, content templates, refresh cycles, competitive research) to broaden our organic reach while sustaining quality.

• Define and monitor SEO KPIs, conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure we remain on track and mitigate risks.


⛳️ Requirements

• 6–10 years of SEO experience encompassing technical SEO, on-page, content, and off-page (preferably 2+ years in product-led SaaS).

• 2+ years of experience in a leadership role, with a proven track record of cultivating high-performing SEO professionals.

• In-depth knowledge of contemporary search ranking systems and quality guidelines, with a history of maintaining performance during algorithm changes.

• Proficiency in adapting SEO strategies for AI-driven discovery (LLMO/AI search optimization).

• Solid understanding of technical SEO and LLMO, including crawling and indexing, internal linking and information architecture, performance (CWV), structured data, etc.

• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities, possessing an experimental mindset and the ability to execute iteratively with limited resources before scaling effective solutions.

• Hands-on experience with essential SEO tools (Google Search Console, Ahrefs, etc.) and comfortable collaborating with the Data Analytics team as required.

• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), capable of aligning stakeholders and articulating trade-offs effectively.

• Ability to “zoom out” to grasp overall company strategy and “zoom in” to focus on tactical details, while adjusting approaches swiftly based on data and landscape changes.

• Experience in international, programmatic, and product-led SEO.
