
Head of Sales – Southern China

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.
• Report directly to the Vice President of Go-to-Market, China.
• Oversee Taylor & Francis sales operations within a specified territory in China.
• Propel revenue growth and enhance market presence across academic journals, books, eBooks, and digital content.
• Achieve overall revenue and profit goals while establishing the strategic agenda for the territory.
• Create a 1–3 year business plan in collaboration with key stakeholders.
• Formulate and execute sales strategies to explore untapped markets and maximize revenue.
• Lead strategic initiatives aimed at sales scalability, business development, and market expansion.
• Serve as the company's representative in external working groups and networks.
• Build and manage a high-performing sales team.
• Meet annual territory sales targets and track month-on-month performance.
• Evaluate sales performance and address deficiencies with actionable solutions.
• Establish and monitor sales KPIs, leveraging data to refine strategy and resource allocation.
• Accelerate sales velocity and ensure that deals are closed within established timeframes.
• Report on sales progress and the business landscape to key stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor, coach, and develop sales colleagues.
• Manage team resources, structure, delegation, and performance management.
• Establish relationships with institutions, market segments, and governmental bodies.
• Represent the organization in negotiations, discussions, and partnerships.
• Collaborate with internal departments to enhance territory coverage.
• Acquire new accounts and strengthen existing relationships.
• Implement strategic quality-improvement and sales-effectiveness projects in line with Six Sigma standards.
• Ensure compliant execution of sales operations and adherence to organizational timelines.
• Utilize data and analytics for informed decision-making and effective strategy execution.
• Undertake ad hoc tasks that support evolving business needs.
• Over 10 years of substantial experience in a sales environment.
• In-depth knowledge of the academic publishing industry and academic content business models.
• A broad network within academic communities, including funders, distributors, and government agencies.
• Proven success in managing high-pressure sales environments and meeting ambitious revenue targets.
• Resilience and adaptability in response to changes in the business landscape.
• Strong analytical skills and experience utilizing data for sales performance enhancement and strategic decision-making.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Strategic mindset with a capacity to implement growth strategies in competitive markets.
• Demonstrated experience in leading, motivating, and developing high-performing sales teams.
• Proven success in delegation, coaching, and performance management.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for territory-related activities, conferences, and book fairs.
• Native proficiency in Mandarin.
• Full professional proficiency in English, with outstanding business communication skills.
• Ability to cultivate and sustain effective relationships with commercial and internal stakeholder teams.
• Right to work in China.
• Residing in Zhejiang or Guangdong Province.
