
Head of Sales – Southern China

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.
• Directly report to the VP Go-to-Market for China.
• Oversee Taylor & Francis sales operations within a specified territory in China.
• Enhance revenue growth and solidify market presence across academic journals, books, eBooks, and digital content.
• Achieve territory revenue, profit, and annual sales goals, including the targets for 2026.
• Create a business plan spanning 1–3 years along with customized sales strategies for the territory.
• Explore untapped markets, expand into new regions, and optimize revenue opportunities.
• Lead strategic efforts aimed at sales scalability, effectiveness, business development, and market growth.
• Represent the company externally through various groups, networks, partnerships, discussions, and negotiations.
• Build and manage a high-performing sales team.
• Track sales performance, identify shortcomings, and implement data-driven enhancements.
• Develop and track sales KPIs while optimizing resource allocation.
• Enhance sales velocity and ensure timely closure of deals.
• Communicate sales progress and market conditions to key stakeholders.
• Mentor, coach, delegate tasks to, and manage the performance of sales colleagues.
• Organize team resources and structure for operational effectiveness.
• Establish relationships with institutions, market sectors, government entities, and other stakeholders.
• Acquire new accounts and strengthen existing customer relationships.
• Implement quality-improvement and sales-effectiveness initiatives in line with Six Sigma standards.
• Ensure compliant execution of sales operations, timelines, and trading policies.
• Utilize data and analytics for informed decision-making and strategy execution.
• Carry out ad hoc tasks to support the evolving needs of the business.
• Over 10 years of experience in a sales setting.
• Extensive knowledge of the academic publishing sector and academic content business models.
• A wide network within academic communities, including funders, distributors, and government agencies.
• Proven track record in managing high-pressure sales environments and meeting ambitious revenue goals.
• Resilience and adaptability throughout business transformation and changes.
• Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging data to enhance sales performance and support strategic choices.
• Exceptional skills in communication and negotiation.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to implement effective growth strategies in competitive markets.
• Demonstrated experience in leading, motivating, and developing high-performing sales teams.
• Proven success through delegation, coaching, and performance management.
• Willingness to travel within the territory and attend domestic and international conferences and book fairs.
• Native proficiency in Mandarin.
• Full professional proficiency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills for both global and regional business operations.
• Capacity to build and sustain positive relationships with the commercial team and internal stakeholders.
• Must have the legal right to work in China.
• Must be located in Guangdong or Zhejiang Province.
• Flexibility to travel to customers and Taylor & Francis offices in Shanghai or Beijing as needed.
• Relocation support is not available.
