Head of Production

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as the lead production lens for discipline leaders throughout the studio, providing them with clear insights into the delivery ramifications of their choices and fostering alignment across various functions.

• Implement and enhance the current production strategy for concluding the existing game, while incorporating incremental enhancements and establishing a strong foundation for the initial development of the upcoming title, as well as the overall production methodology for the studio.

• Maintain and refine the delivery strategy for the project (e.g., its structure, phases, and execution through launch). Ensure that product vision and roadmaps are effectively transformed into viable development plans within time, budget, and resource limitations. Promote clarity regarding ownership, priorities, and transitions across cross-functional teams.

• Transform the production organizational structure, including the deployment of producers across content and disciplines. Take charge of career development frameworks, leveling, and promotion criteria for the discipline. Mentor and develop Senior Managers and Production Leads, ensuring that the production organization functions as a unified, high-performing team.

• Establish and maintain production standards across tools, tracking, and milestone processes. Guarantee consistent reporting on sprint and milestone burndowns, velocity metrics, and delivery risks to keep leadership apprised and teams focused.

• Oversee project and team health across strike teams and departments, proactively identifying risks and formulating mitigation strategies. Promote a disciplined approach to project management while allowing space for creative iteration and problem-solving. Advocate for development practices that safeguard team wellbeing without jeopardizing delivery.

• Manage the production headcount budget and workforce plan, including contractor strategies, backfill decisions, and ramp planning, in collaboration with Finance and Operations. Represent the production function in executive and publisher-facing forums, conveying project status, delivery risks, and strategic recommendations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10+ years of experience in game production, with at least 4+ years in a senior leadership or director role.

• Successfully shipped at least one AAA title in a senior production leadership capacity, ideally overseeing the preproduction, polish, and submission phases.

• Proven experience in leading and mentoring a production team across various disciplines (design, art, engineering, narrative, audio).

• Profound understanding of the dynamics involved in complex projects from feature integration through to final content lock.

• Bachelor's degree in Production, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
