This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Take ownership of the product vision in nascent stages, articulating what Poolside should develop and converting vague challenges into actionable and clear product strategies.
• Spearhead projects that emphasize research, experimentation, and proof-of-concept initiatives, investigating future opportunities for developer tools and integrating insights back into Poolside's product strategy.
• Collaborate with leadership and engineering teams to make product choices that are sound on both strategic and detailed levels.
• Influence Poolside's external product representation, encompassing our website and the initial interactions developers have with our work.
• Establish the groundwork for our developer marketing and evangelism initiatives over time, fostering community engagement and enthusiasm around our releases.
• Expand the design team in alignment with company growth, ensuring thoughtful hiring practices and maintaining high standards.
• Lead and develop the design team across product and brand areas, offering feedback, guidance, and the autonomy for senior designers to thrive.
• A technical foundation (computer science or equivalent) paired with a designer's mindset and instincts. You possess an engineering thought process while being captivated by the art of product design.
• Extensive experience in designing specifically for developer tools, rather than for general consumer or enterprise products.
• A proven history of creating projects in your spare time. You engage in hacking, prototyping, and launching side projects out of passion.
• Comfort with writing code. While you may not be deploying production code, you should be able to get involved in the technical aspects.
• Strong product intuition and a keen curiosity about emerging trends in the market, especially in AI and developer tooling.
• Experience navigating various levels of operation: from high-level discussions with founders and leadership down to the minutiae of specific flows or interactions.
• Proficiency in contemporary design tools (we utilize Figma, although the specific tool is not the focus).
• Credibility among both designers and engineers, with both groups trusting your judgment.
• Experience leading senior, self-sufficient teams. You know how to provide direction without resorting to micromanagement.
• AI is integrated into your workflow. You dedicate considerable time each week to using AI for building, prototyping, and exploration, and you have well-formed opinions on quality.
• Fully remote work & flexible hours
• 37 days/year of vacation & holidays
• Health insurance allowance for you & dependents
• 16 weeks of flexible, full-pay parental leave
• Well-being, continuous learning & home office allowances
• Company-provided equipment
