Head of Network Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Develop the long-term architectural roadmap for the service provider network ecosystem.

• Set technical standards and engineering principles across routing, transport, aggregation, and security domains.

• Ensure consistency in architecture among backbone, access, transport, and infrastructure security environments.

• Outline strategies for scalability and resilience to support infrastructure growth.

• Guide technical decisions pertinent to routing architecture, transport evolution, and infrastructure expansion.

• Foster engineering standardization across multi-vendor environments.

• Advocate for automation-first operational models to enhance scalability, consistency, and deployment speed.

• Collaborate closely with Automation, Operations, Expansion, and Infrastructure teams.

• Assist in the evolution of provisioning, validation, and infrastructure lifecycle methodologies.

• Promote documentation, engineering discipline, and operational reproducibility throughout the organization.

• Mentor and cultivate senior engineering talent across various technical domains.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in designing and evolving large-scale service provider infrastructure environments.

• CCIE/JNCIE-level expertise or equivalent practical architectural depth.

• Profound understanding of IP/MPLS backbone architectures and routing ecosystems.

• Strong grasp of transport, aggregation, and infrastructure networking domains.

• Experience in defining infrastructure standards and architectural principles.

• A robust automation mindset aimed at scaling network operations and ensuring infrastructure consistency.

• Experience managing large-scale multi-vendor environments.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in infrastructure contexts.

• Experience in guiding technical decisions across engineering teams.

• Proficient in documentation, standardization, and maintaining operational rigor.

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced infrastructure growth environments.

• Preferred: experience with automation frameworks and infrastructure APIs.

• Preferred: experience in scaling operational models within large service provider networks.

• Preferred: familiarity with CI/CD or infrastructure lifecycle automation practices.

• Preferred: experience with strategies for scaling optical transport.

• Preferred: exposure to infrastructure security and segmentation architectures.

• Preferred: experience supporting multi-site or multi-data-center service provider environments.
