Head of Legal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and lead legal and regulatory initiatives across SafetyWing’s product offerings.

• Collaborate with product teams to navigate legal and regulatory trade-offs as products evolve and enter new markets.

• Assist teams in confidently operating within regulated environments by translating intricate legal and regulatory inquiries into straightforward, actionable guidance.

• Engage directly with international regulatory frameworks, including those related to insurance, data privacy, consumer protection, and advertising laws.

• Oversee and manage regulatory filings and submissions.

• Aid in resolving significant disputes and regulatory matters alongside internal stakeholders and external partners.

• Establish structure, documentation, and repeatable processes to enable legal operations to scale with the company.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a qualified lawyer with solid commercial judgment and experience collaborating closely with product, operations, or business teams.

• Possess experience in regulated environments and demonstrate a keen interest in quickly understanding new legal and regulatory fields.

• Exhibit strong project management abilities and enjoy taking ownership of complex issues from start to finish.

• Approach risk pragmatically and comprehend how legal decisions impact product development, sales, and growth.

• Recognize personal limits and effectively collaborate with external counsel to address gaps.

• Be comfortable with uncertainty, take initiative, and progress work independently.
