Head of Legal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of commercial contracting from start to finish — including customer MSAs, order forms, DPAs, BAAs, vendor agreements, and NDAs — while creating the playbooks and templates that allow the GTM team to operate efficiently.

• Establish and manage our privacy and data protection program (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA) for a company that relies on real-time voice and media data.

• Act as the legal partner for Sales, Finance, Product, and Engineering — facilitating deal closures and product launches while ensuring compliance with risk management protocols.

• Oversee corporate governance tasks in collaboration with Finance — including board consents, equity mechanics, and maintaining entity and cap-table accuracy.

• Define our stance on unique matters such as open-source licensing and IP, AI governance, and telecom/SIP regulatory issues.

• Strategically manage outside counsel — determining what legal matters should be handled in-house while keeping expenses under control.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have served as one of the initial in-house lawyers at a rapidly growing tech company, or you are a senior commercial counsel prepared to take ownership of a function.

• You possess extensive experience in commercial contracts — particularly in enterprise, usage-based, and data-intensive agreements — along with the acumen to make swift decisions regarding risk.

• You are well-versed in privacy and data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and ideally HIPAA).

• You are a proactive builder and operator — adept at working independently, crafting the playbook, and confidently stating "yes, and here's how."
