This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Oversee the Global BSA/AML program comprehensively, encompassing policy formulation, risk assessment, governance, and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with product, risk, operations, engineering, and business teams to create, execute, and enhance policies, controls, and workflows related to AML/BSA, Sanctions/OFAC, CIP/KYC, CDD/EDD, transaction monitoring, and fraud.
• Establish and manage Flex's financial crime program for crypto and stablecoin, focusing on typologies specific to on/off ramp activities, stablecoin issuance, and redemption.
• Develop and improve transaction monitoring and fraud detection capabilities, including rule creation, threshold settings, typology development, alert handling procedures, quality assurance, and documentation to align with regulatory requirements and enhance operational efficiency.
• Ensure readiness for regulator and bank partner examinations, including the management of findings and remediation timelines.
• Analyze patterns across AML alerts, suspicious activities, account behaviors, fraud attempts, chargebacks, and transaction anomalies to detect emerging threats, recommend remediations, and drive enhancements in controls.
• Establish and refine fraud response processes, including case management, escalation protocols, and collaboration for cross-functional incident responses.
• Oversee and prioritize projects within the financial crimes domain, establishing an operational rhythm and coordinating efforts among technical, legal, data, and operations stakeholders.
• Monitor regulatory, legal, and industry developments relevant to BSA/AML, KYC, OFAC, fintech financial crime, and fraud; convert requirements into actionable program updates and business guidance.
• Create and deliver training programs that support AML, sanctions, fraud awareness, transaction monitoring, and financial crime obligations throughout the organization.
• Conduct periodic assessments and thematic risk reviews to pinpoint gaps, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for control performance improvement; recommend targeted enhancements.
• Act as a key advisor to stakeholders across the organization on matters related to AML, sanctions, KYC, and fraud risk; escalate issues appropriately and clearly.
• Assist with internal audits, bank partner evaluations, and regulatory examinations, coordinating remediation efforts when findings arise.
• Design and maintain reporting and dashboards that communicate program performance, key risk indicators, trends, and outcomes to senior leadership and partners.
• 7–10+ years of experience in financial crime compliance, including AML/BSA, fraud risk management, transaction monitoring, or a related risk function within the fintech, financial services, or regulated payments sectors.
• Extensive knowledge of BSA/AML, OFAC/sanctions, KYC/CIP, and CDD/EDD requirements, particularly as they pertain to fintechs and banking partnerships.
• Proven experience in designing, implementing, or enhancing financial crime controls, including program documentation, monitoring frameworks, workflows, governance, and reporting structures.
• Familiarity with global or multi-jurisdictional AML/sanctions programs.
• Hands-on experience in designing transaction monitoring and/or fraud detection programs, including rule strategies, tuning, alert management, investigations, typologies, and playbook development.
• Demonstrated capability to analyze data and trends, synthesize insights, and translate signals into effective risk mitigation strategies.
