This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee daily financial operations, including payroll, invoicing, billing, payables, and multi-currency reconciliation.
• Collaborate with the external accounting firm to maintain precise and well-documented financial records.
• Ensure that curators and accommodation partners receive timely and accurate payments.
• Take ownership of tracking, reconciliation, and controls related to curator advances.
• Investigate options, create models, and suggest modifications to platform money flows.
• Develop payment and payout solutions in conjunction with the engineering team.
• Manage revenue recognition, intermediary accounting treatment, annual audits, and year-end closing processes.
• Ensure compliance with VAT regulations, payment laws, and financial data protection standards.
• Oversee monthly closing, cash position management, burn reporting, budgeting, and financial modeling.
• Assist with revenue forecasting, fundraising strategies, and working capital facilities.
• Model hiring expenses and align headcount strategies with budget and runway considerations.
• Work on compensation structures, salary benchmarks, and ESOP management.
• Create profit and loss statements by event and curator while enhancing margins.
• Optimize cash timing, treasury management, currency risk, and client fund handling.
• Act as a deal desk for curator partnerships and conduct monthly business reviews.
• Redesign the financial stack and automate workflows and dashboards for efficiency.
• Influence the financial aspects of fintech features such as split payments, payouts, and new payment methods.
• Lead the setup and management of entities beyond Estonia, starting with Brazil.
• Optimize tax and VAT processes across various countries and manage intercompany cash flows.
• Handle chargebacks, fraud checks, and deposit management.
• Leverage AI and automation to scale the finance function effectively.
• Recruit the first finance operations team member as the volume of work increases.
• Within the first 90 days, transition from the interim finance partner, map out processes and money flows, deliver reliable monthly reports, and take charge of the audit and year-end preparations.
• 10+ years of experience in finance.
• At least 3 years of hands-on leadership experience in finance at a rapidly growing startup.
• Experience in finance operations and accounting.
• Strong commercial finance judgment to model cash flow, advances, and working capital.
• Knowledge of marketplace payments, multi-currency flows, and VAT regulations across different countries.
• Proven experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams on payment or fintech features.
• Experience in setting up or managing entities in multiple countries.
• Hands-on experience with audits, financial closes, and payroll processes.
• Proficiency with modern finance tools and AI technologies.
• Ability to automate repetitive tasks effectively.
• Detail-oriented, trustworthy, and discreet; able to identify and flag issues promptly.
• Proactive and assertive in approach.
• Familiarity with EU company structures, preferably Estonian (a plus).
• Experience with Stripe, Xero, and Deel (a plus).
• Background in revenue-sharing, ticketing, or hospitality industries (a plus).
