Head of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop and consistently enhance products that cater to both external users and internal teams, focusing on a robust user experience, scalability, and measurable business outcomes.

• Define a clear technological vision and synchronize engineering and data roadmaps with the company's strategic objectives and business priorities.

• Supervise system architecture and cloud infrastructure to guarantee reliability, scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness as the organization expands.

• Direct vital technology choices across platform architecture, cloud service providers, and engineering practices, demonstrating sufficient hands-on experience to earn the trust of the engineering team.

• Utilize data to inform product strategy, operational enhancements, and executive decision-making processes.

• Enhance analytics capabilities to provide visibility across business and operational metrics.

• Maintain strong security, privacy, and compliance practices, particularly in environments dealing with sensitive personal and health-related data.

• Implement data protection, access governance, and auditing frameworks in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements.

• Build and expand high-performing teams within engineering and data disciplines.

• Recruit, mentor, and guide senior managers and technical leads to establish a solid leadership structure beneath you.

• Create clear operational rhythms, performance frameworks, and technical standards.

• Foster alignment among technology, operations, finance, and business teams.

• Simplify complex technical subjects into clear strategic choices for leadership stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in rapidly growing technology startups or scale-up settings.

• Proven track record in leading engineering and/or data teams through senior managers or technical leads, rather than just individual contributors.

• Demonstrated ability to function at both strategic and execution levels, converting business objectives into platform and technology deliverables.

• Strong product judgment paired with adequate technical knowledge to influence architectural and platform decisions.

• Practical experience with scalable, cloud-native systems and contemporary data platforms.

• Experience in regulated or data-sensitive sectors (such as health, insurance, fintech, or similar) is a significant advantage.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder leadership abilities, capable of fostering clarity in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

• A robust ownership mentality and the confidence to make impactful decisions with limited information.

• Willingness to travel periodically within Southeast Asia, especially to the Philippines, for on-site collaboration with the client team (approximately once a month).
