This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Contribute to and drive the overarching technology strategy of the company, ensuring that the platform and broader business systems are equipped to scale efficiently across various markets, products, and increasing transaction volumes.
• Lead the technical strategy throughout the ecosystem, aligning architecture, infrastructure, and delivery with the company’s objectives for reliability, scalability, security, and compliance with regulations.
• Provide guidance on architectural and solution design decisions across teams, eliminating technical obstacles for Engineers while ensuring a robust, future-proof system and software architecture.
• Build, lead, and expand multiple high-performing engineering teams, which include managers and senior individual contributors.
• Enhance team capacity and capability through proactive mentorship, structured career development, succession planning, and rigorous performance management.
• Drive the hiring strategy and organizational design to support both short-term and medium-term growth of the engineering organization.
• Establish and continuously refine end-to-end observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident management frameworks to ensure high system availability, targeting 99.9999% uptime.
• Enhance software reliability across the platform by implementing robust operational excellence practices and incident response mechanisms.
• Set and maintain high standards for engineering excellence, including code quality, testing, QA automation, documentation, and CI/CD pipeline maturity.
• Proactively manage and minimize technical debt while spearheading company-wide initiatives to enhance overall codebase health and maintainability.
• Improve methodologies and systems for tracking engineering metrics, system health, team performance, and developer productivity.
• Define, monitor, and optimize KPIs such as system performance, transaction success rates, infrastructure efficiency, cost optimization, and team velocity.
• Optimize cloud infrastructure utilization and costs while upholding performance, reliability, and security standards.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Sales, Marketing, and Business stakeholders to ensure that engineering delivery aligns with company priorities and regulatory obligations.
• Ensure that systems are secure by design, with a strong emphasis on data privacy, fraud prevention, and regulatory preparedness.
• Develop and maintain long-term technical and architectural roadmaps to keep the platform ahead of industry and technological advancements.
• Foster a high-trust, high-performance engineering culture rooted in accountability, autonomy, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
• Contribute to broader company-wide engineering initiatives across financial services and business tools (e.g., Payment, lending, savings, deposits, cards, and business management platforms) to enhance the overall engineering organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 12-15 years of hands-on software development experience, including over 5 years of successfully leading multiple engineering teams and executing large-scale technical initiatives.
• Substantial prior experience as a Software Engineer, with a proven track record in designing scalable systems and functioning in a software architecture role (approximately 60% technical and 40% people leadership).
• Strong backend engineering skills, including practical experience in deploying production systems (e.g., using Spring Boot or similar modern backend frameworks); frontend exposure is a bonus.
• Proven experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, deployment systems, and managing technical debt at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to lead managers and multiple cross-functional teams simultaneously in complex, fast-paced settings.
• Prior experience managing distributed and remote teams across various geographical locations.
• Strong familiarity with agile methodologies, sprint planning, and effective technical resource management.
• Proven record of mentoring, performance management, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to drive alignment among engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in introducing engineering innovations that significantly enhance team productivity, delivery speed, and operational efficiency.
• Experience in fintech or regulated technology environments is a significant advantage, particularly in high-scale platforms.
• Exposure to emerging markets or a keen interest in addressing issues related to financial inclusion and financial well-being is beneficial.
