This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Overseeing and nurturing the design team — conducting structured one-on-one meetings, establishing goals, providing consistent feedback, and facilitating career growth for designers across product and marketing sectors.
• Promoting the effective use of AI within the team — identifying relevant tools, integrating them into workflows, and ensuring their application enhances output rather than serving as isolated experiments.
• Recruiting as the team expands — defining role requirements, conducting interviews, and onboarding new team members.
• Conducting usability tests and user research — utilizing existing tools and processes to evaluate designs, collect evidence, and incorporate findings into prioritization and design decisions.
• Managing design delivery and service level agreements (SLAs) — establishing intake processes, defining tiered turnaround SLAs, monitoring on-time delivery, and assessing stakeholder satisfaction with the design function.
• Collaborating closely with Product and Marketing to shape initiatives from the outset, clarify requirements, and align on desired outcomes.
• Ensuring design quality governance — reviewing team outputs, upholding quality standards and review checkpoints, and maintaining consistency across product and brand without engaging in individual design tasks.
• Enhancing and scaling existing team processes, visibility, and operational methodologies as the team grows.
• Expanding the design system — encouraging adoption among designers and engineers, tracking component reuse, identifying gaps, and ensuring the system facilitates faster delivery.
• Assisting marketing designers in producing stronger, more effective outputs by crafting briefs and providing direction.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in product design (or a related field), with a solid foundation in design principles, even though this role does not involve hands-on design work.
• At least 3 years of experience in people management — hiring, supervising, and nurturing designers on a daily basis.
• Proven experience in scaling design teams.
• Demonstrated capability to introduce and integrate AI tools or workflows that enhance team efficiency and output.
• Strong analytical skills — experience in utilizing data (usability testing, journey analytics, CX metrics, NPS/CSAT) to guide and prioritize design efforts.
• Proficient in conducting usability tests and user research using available tools and translating insights into actionable design priorities.
• Exceptional English communication skills (both written and spoken), with the ability to review and enhance customer-facing language for clarity and context.
• Strong organizational and delivery management skills — experience in establishing SLAs, intake processes, and monitoring design delivery across various workstreams.
• Good design judgment and a clear understanding of high-quality design, coupled with the ability to govern quality through review and standards rather than through individual outputs.
• Ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, assess satisfaction, and build effective, trusted relationships.
• Comfortable working in both product and marketing environments.
• Experience in fintech or another regulated sector, or a strong personal understanding of investing and financial products.
• A structured and pragmatic mindset, with a focus on delivery, clarity, and measurable results.
• Make an impact from day one.
• Opportunities for growth.
• A transparent and open culture.
• A supportive, high-caliber team.
• Flexible working arrangements.
