This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• AI-focused data engineering: design the complete data stack — ingestion, orchestration, warehouse, transformation, and analytics — while managing a team of AI agents responsible for its construction and maintenance. You will establish the architecture, engineering standards, and quality expectations; agents will handle nearly all coding tasks.
• Take ownership of the pipelines that consistently transfer clinical (FHIR/EHR), claims (EDI 837/834/820), pharmacy, financial, operational, and internal data utilizing Dagster, dbt, and BigQuery.
• Create new pathways for data movement, both structured and unstructured: state and payer feeds, vendor SFTP uploads, partner APIs, regulatory exports, CMS audit deliverables, along with call recordings, visit notes, faxes, and scanned records that currently exist outside any established system of record.
• Develop and enhance a metadata layer that assists both humans and agents: a catalog that defines available data and its significance, along with a semantic layer ensuring that every dashboard, analyst, and agent operates with a consistent understanding of terms such as “member,” “risk score,” and “cost of care.”
• Transform data into actionable insights: deliver the metrics, dashboards, and analyses that clinicians, operators, finance professionals, and regulators depend on; assess success through quicker decision-making and improved outcomes.
• Manage the analytics related to risk adjustment and clinical quality: HCC/RAF capture, care gap closure, quality measure reporting, and the burden-of-illness perspective that links clinical documentation with financial performance.
• Establish the intelligence layer for the organization: document events from every call, visit, and meeting via agents and recordings, converting this information into structured data rather than relying on knowledge stored in individual minds — subsequently using this to provide leadership with proactive, organization-wide visibility into potential issues before they arise.
• Lead the data team: recruit and oversee a combination of internal and external resources, establish the data roadmap, quality benchmarks, and PHI/security protocols.
• Outstanding talent and potential: we prioritize growth trajectory over years of experience.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, along with familiarity with the modern data stack: dbt, an orchestrator (e.g., Dagster), a cloud warehouse (e.g., BigQuery), infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform), cloud storage (e.g., GCS), and BI tools (e.g., Metabase).
• Comprehensive ownership of a 0 → 1 data system: you have designed, launched, and taken responsibility for it when issues arose.
• AI-driven working approach: tools like Claude Code, Codex, or similar are already central to your development process, and you possess the skills to guide, review, and validate their output.
• Action-oriented, pragmatic mindset, comfortable with uncertainty and shifting goals, including direct collaboration with non-technical stakeholders.
• Motivated by working closely with clinicians who support vulnerable elderly populations.
• Competitive salary accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package.
• Inclusion in the company's equity/stock program.
