This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the comprehensive technical strategy and execution roadmap for AI-driven product capabilities across the StarCompliance platform.

• Promote the adoption of generative AI, LLM-based architectures, predictive analytics, graph intelligence, recommendation systems, and semantic search that provide significant customer value.

• Manage the data foundation strategy, ensuring that clean, trustworthy, and well-governed data supports every AI initiative.

• Develop robust MLOps capabilities, including model training pipelines, versioning, monitoring, A/B testing, and drift detection.

• Advocate for practical AI adoption within engineering and product development, enhancing the efficiency of our build processes.

• Construct, mentor, and expand a high-performing Data & AI organization encompassing data engineering, data science, ML engineering, and analytics.

• Collaborate closely with the CTO and executive team to ensure AI and data initiatives align with the company’s strategy and commercial objectives.

• Partner with the Product Director of AI & Data Products, jointly owning the AI roadmap, prioritization, and delivery outcomes.


⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in delivering production-grade AI and ML systems at scale, beyond mere experimentation.

• Extensive knowledge of generative AI and LLM-based application architectures (fine-tuning, prompt engineering, RAG, agentic frameworks).

• Strong familiarity with vector databases and semantic search technologies (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, Azure AI Search).

• Solid foundation in modern data engineering, ELT/ETL patterns, and large-scale data pipeline architectures.

• Practical experience with Snowflake (or equivalent cloud data warehouse) and related data modeling practices.

• In-depth experience with the Azure ecosystem: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure OpenAI Service, and Azure Machine Learning.

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to engage in technical discussions with senior engineers at a deep level.

• Experience with cloud-native, microservices, and event-driven architectures on Azure (or equivalent hyperscaler).

• Ability to make informed decisions regarding build vs. buy vs. integrate in the AI and data tooling landscape.

• Proven track record in building and leading high-performing Data / AI engineering teams.

• Background in financial services, regtech, compliance, surveillance, or similarly regulated sectors.

• Strong commercial acumen — the capacity to connect technical investments to customer value and business results.
