This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Assume Principal Investigator responsibilities for the majority of Numan RWE studies, encompassing legal, regulatory, and ethical accountability.
• Lead the creation and upkeep of study protocols, statistical analysis plans, data management plans, and governance documentation.
• Supervise the design and execution of study interventions while ensuring appropriate clinical governance infrastructure.
• Manage randomization, adverse event reporting, protocol deviation handling, and master file maintenance.
• Serve as the primary liaison for funding partners regarding research methodology, governance, and reporting.
• Oversee both quantitative and qualitative outcome streams, collaborating with data science colleagues on analysis.
• Recruit and manage project-specific personnel, including Health Coaches, research coordinators, and intervention designers.
• Lead or co-lead peer-reviewed publications and drive the creation of conference abstracts and presentations at prestigious forums.
• Represent Numan as a scientific thought leader in collaboration with public affairs and PR teams.
• Develop and sustain Numan's clinical research strategy and forward pipeline, with a focus on oral medication research.
• Establish processes, systems, and governance to enhance research capacity, including study templates, ethics frameworks, data collection standards, and publication workflows.
• Identify and prioritize research questions that demonstrate Numan's real-world outcomes and formulate proposals.
• Collaborate with data science, product, clinical, and behavioral medicine teams.
• Act as the internal authority on clinical research standards and maintain the clinical research claims library in conjunction with the regulatory team.
• Develop and nurture relationships with pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and public health organizations.
• Lead efforts to secure external research funding, including NIHR, Innovate UK, industry grants, and commercial study partnerships.
• Represent Numan at external research events, forums, and steering groups.
• Report directly to the VP of Behavioral Medicine and work closely with Behavioral Medicine, data science, and analytics teams.
• A PhD in a relevant field (e.g., clinical or health psychology, nutrition, public health, epidemiology, obesity research, or a related discipline).
• Experience as a Principal Investigator or in an equivalent leadership role on clinical or behavioral research studies, with full accountability for governance, ethics, and regulatory compliance.
• A proven track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations in health, behavioral, or clinical research.
• Experience in developing and maintaining external research partnerships with academic institutions, NHS, pharmaceutical companies, or funding organizations.
• Strong understanding of UK research governance frameworks, including GCP, HRA ethics submissions, and ICH guidelines.
• Proficient in various study designs, with the capability to lead complex multi-outcome analysis plans.
• The strategic foresight to build research infrastructure and pipeline, rather than merely executing individual studies.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to represent Numan credibly to external scientific and industry audiences and convert evidence into persuasive narratives internally.
• Experience in obesity, weight management, GLP-1 pharmacotherapy, or digital health research (bonus).
• Established connections within the UK obesity research, academic, or clinical community (bonus).
• Experience in securing external research funding or leading industry-academic partnership studies (bonus).
• Familiarity with real-world evidence study designs and extensive digital health datasets (bonus).
