Head of Architecture – Engineering Delivery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• **Key Responsibilities:**

• * Assess and prioritize new product initiatives: reject, defer, explore, prototype, MVP, or full development.

• * Define the architecture, ownership, and team structures for both new and existing product streams.

• * Relieve the CTO by managing new product initiatives (excluding critical infrastructure).

• * Conduct technical evaluations: cost of ownership, risks, dependencies, and build/buy/outsource decisions.

• * Collaborate with product and business stakeholders on discovery and presentation of new ideas.

• * Oversee delivery across in-house, outsourced, and hybrid teams.

• * Establish company-wide standards: acceptance criteria, code review, production readiness, and task handover.

• * Provide complete transparency to the CEO and owners regarding status, risks, dependencies, and actual launch costs.

⛳️ Requirements

• * Senior engineering experience in data-intensive, platform, web automation, scraping, search, AI data tools, or related products.

• * Hands-on architectural expertise: the candidate should be able to challenge the CTO and tech leads with substantial insights, not just facilitate discussions.

• * Proven experience in guiding initiatives from discovery and feasibility to MVP and production.

• * Experience leading tech leads, small engineering teams, or project groups.

• * Capability to establish technical gates: feasibility, cost, risk, ownership, reuse, and decisions on build/buy/outsource.

• * Strong stakeholder management skills: able to collaborate peer-to-peer with the CTO and owners without political complications.

• * Experience ensuring delivery transparency: decision logs, risk registers, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and production readiness.

• **Nice-to-have**

• * Experience with proxy/residential proxy/scraper API/web data products.

• * Familiarity with browser automation stacks such as Playwright, Puppeteer, Selenium, Crawlee, or similar tools.

• * Knowledge of AI Search/RAG/LLM data workflows/MCP-like product logic.

• * Experience with high-scale data pipelines, observability, SLAs/SLOs, and infrastructure cost management.

• * Background in building or managing outsourced engineering capacity.
