Hardware Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Assisting in the integration of DPU hardware and software into Akamai's compute and GPU server platforms, covering PCIe, networking, storage, and manageability interfaces.

• Carrying out validation plans for DPU platforms, which include functional, performance, interoperability, stress, and reliability testing for large-scale data center use cases.

• Developing and sustaining automation, scripts, and testing tools to operate DPUs, gather telemetry at scale, and present results to stakeholders.

• Implementing and verifying networking and offload features like RDMA/RoCE, L2/L3/L4 Ethernet/IP forwarding, SR-IOV/virtio-net/vDPA, overlay networks, and congestion control behaviors.

• Partnering with Kernel, NetEng, SDN, Storage, Security, and Cloud teams to synchronize workloads and SLOs in testing environments and configurations.

• Collaborating with component and silicon vendors to replicate issues, capture detailed traces, and validate firmware and feature enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess over 5 years of relevant experience and hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a comparable field.

• Acquire hands-on experience with server and networking hardware, including data center NICs, SmartNICs, DPUs, and their integration into x86 or ARM systems.

• Be knowledgeable about PCIe, SR-IOV, virtualization, and Linux, and be comfortable navigating hardware, firmware, and software domains.

• Have a solid grasp of L2/L3/L4 networking principles and data center technologies such as VXLAN, BGP, RDMA/RoCE, congestion control, and ECMP.

• Exhibit proficiency in hardware and platform validation, conducting tests, system stress evaluations, and automation through Python or Bash scripting.

• Communicate effectively in English, work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and be adaptable to a hybrid work model requiring three days on-site each week.
